You’ve Upgraded to iOS 18.2: Why Does Siri Look the Same on Your iPhone?

New first visual cue Apple information on iPhone iOS 18.2 Siri’s revamped look—the entire edge of the screen flashes with rainbow colors. But have you updated your iPhone and seen the same animated sphere that’s been pinned to the bottom of your screen for the past few years?

I also encountered the same thing and was confused.

Turns out I needed to take another step before I could try A smarter Siri —and other Apple Intelligence features, such as writing tools, Notification summary and Cleanup function in the photo.

If you’re seeing the same thing, here’s why.

Your iPhone may not be able to run Apple Intelligence

latest System update It’s available to everyone with an iPhone XS or newer, but that doesn’t mean everyone can get Apple Intelligence. In fact, since most AI computing is done on the device, only a few models can run the new technology:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iphone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

Apple Intelligence will also run on Macs and iPads with M-series processors and the latest processors iPad mini (Powered by the A17 Pro chip).

If you own any of these models, you’ll see a shiny new look when you call up Siri. On Mac, the same effect can be achieved by using the Siri search field instead of the entire edge of the screen. If you have a different model, you’ll see the same Siri ball.

For many people, Siri in iOS 18 will look the same as Siri in iOS 17.

You may be on the Apple Intelligence waitlist

Officially, Apple Intelligence is considered a beta feature, even on supported devices. As part of its pre-release program, Apple is granting access to users who request it. (For more information, check out Why Apple adopts this waitlist approach.)

After installing iOS 18.2 (or iPadOS 18.2 or MacOS Sequoia 15.2), you need to go to Settings > Apple Intelligence and Siri and click Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist > Join the Waitlist. New Siri effects only show up if you request them and was awarded Right to use.

Reports online and from friends suggest that people will only have to wait a few hours to start using Apple Intelligence. That number will undoubtedly fluctuate as Apple balances its network needs. private cloud computing infrastructure.
