PDC World Darts Championship 2025 results: Nathan Aspinall cruises into quarter-finals
Nathan Aspinall eased into the quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Ricardo Pietreczko.
The 12th-seeded Briton averaged a steady mid-90s throughout the match, finishing with a score of 94.28, and the struggles of his German opponent meant that was all that was needed.
Pietrecko impressed in the 4-1 win over Scott Williams in the last round, but he averaged more than 100 points in his first appearance in the last 16 at Alexandra Palace The score was only 78.46.
Aspinall gleefully took advantage and performed well in front of a lively home crowd, losing just two legs to retain his place in the quarter-finals.
“I feel for Ricciardo – he didn’t play the game he set out to play,” he told Sky Sports. “But wow, I’ve played in the Premier League and I’ve never heard an atmosphere like this, wow.
“It was probably the first darts match since Match Play (which he won in July 2023) where I went on stage and enjoyed every minute.”
Aspinall will face the winner of Monday night’s clash between Luke Littler and Ryan Joyce on New Year’s Day.
Meanwhile, Callan Rydz emerged from a tight battle with qualifier Robert Owen to win 4-3 to reach the quarter-finals for the second time.
Reitz was nowhere near the level he showed when he knocked out 11th seed Dimitri van den Berg in the third round, a match in which Irving had to switch servers, and he stepped up to the plate. Two sets ahead.
But the crowd was behind Reitz, and he won the next three sets as his rhythm resumed.
Irving continued to fight and tied the score at 3-3, but Reitz, who scored 12,180 points in the game, was not to be outdone and won the deciding set 3-1.
The 26-year-old from Newcastle will face either Michael van Gerwen or Jeffrey de Graaf in the next round.
Chris Dobey defeated Dutchman Kevin Doets 4-3 in the quarter-finals to face Welsh player Gerwyn Price.
The 15th seed once led 1-0 and 2-1, but Dotz came from behind to eliminate the second seed Michael Smith and the 31st seed Krzysztof Lataski in the past two rounds, and won 3 -2 lead.
This time, however, Dots failed to complete the task and Dobby equalized to win the deciding set 3-1.
