The Los Angeles Chargers secured a spot in the NFL playoffs with a 40-7 victory over the New England Patriots.
Justin Herbert threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns to help the Chargers earn a wild-card berth in John Harbaugh’s first season as head coach.
After the game, the Patriots were booed by their home fans on the sidelines.

The Bengals need to win their final game against the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers and hope the other results work in their favor.
The Broncos, who need to hold on to a tie to clinch a play-in spot, must now beat the Kansas City Chiefs — who have won 15 of 16 games to become the AFC’s top seed — to reach the play-in spot for the first time in nine years.
Also on Saturday, the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Arizona Cardinals 13-9 at home to secure the NFC West title.
Kyren Williams scored the Rams’ only touchdown of the game, while Joshua Karty scored on Ahkello Witherspoon’s touchdown run Two field goals were scored before the zone interception with 37 seconds left to seal the victory.
The victory moved the Rams to 10 wins in 16 games and one game ahead of the Seattle Seahawks ahead of next week’s final round of games.
