At CNET, we’ve spent years rigorously testing a variety of mattresses, so we know how to find the one that’s the best value for your money. We also know that not all mattress brands are created equal. We are always reviewing Mengyun Mattress for the better part of a decade. Over the years, we’ve seen various models come and go. We still remember when there was only one DreamCloud, and it was tan instead of dark blue—gosh, those were the days.
Today, there are six different DreamCloud beds to choose from, each with a different build, firmness and feel. The DreamCloud is the brand’s most affordable product yet, but since everyone has their own sleep preferences, it might not be right for everyone. In this review, I’ll go over the key things you need to know before buying, including who it’s best for.

First impressions of DreamCloud
This bed arrived at our office with absolutely free shipping in a large box. The unboxing process was simple: we took it out of the box, removed the packaging, and watched the mattress quickly inflate. Initially, we noticed the bed was a little warped, but after spending the night on our foundation, it fully expanded and formed into the correct shape.
When we came back in the morning, the bed was ready for testing. This product has a much less memory foam feel than the older DreamCloud model. Neutral foam in quilted cover and support coils provide faster response time. It also feels noticeably firmer than other DreamCloud beds we’ve tested in the past.
DreamCloud mattress firmness and feel
How does the DreamCloud mattress feel?
This bed has less memory foam feel than previous versions, but we’d still describe it as having a responsive memory foam feel. Support coils and neutral comfort foam help balance the feel of memory foam. There is a slight sinking effect, but overall, the DreamCloud Hybrid feels more like a neutral hybrid mattress than a traditional memory foam bed.
Other DreamCloud beds are more made of memory foam. since Mengyun memory foam Using support foam instead of coils gives it a relatively more memory foam feel. this Prime Minister Mengyun and Premium rest The beds also feature thicker layers of memory foam for increased comfort, giving them a softer, body-hugging quality.
How firm is the DreamCloud mattress?
This is probably one of the firmest DreamCloud mattresses I have ever used. On our scale, it’s somewhere between mid-sized enterprise and mid-sized enterprise. This makes it best for those who are strictly back or stomach sleepers who need support rather than pressure relief, or who just want a firmer bed.
While firmness varies from person to person, we at CNET have a machine that can accurately determine the objective firmness of a bed. this Mattress Crusher 9000 Give this mattress a firmness rating of 7.1 out of 10. That’s a little softer than what a bed feels like to us, but not a lot – what does a robot know? We are the ones who really need sleep.
DreamCloud mattress construction
This is a premium memory foam hybrid bed that is relatively simple to build. It is 12 inches thick and consists of the following layers:
1. At the base, there’s a thin layer of support foam that serves as the foundation for the bed’s pocketed coil primary support system. These coils have additional reinforcement along the edges to provide a strong perimeter.
2. Next, there’s a dynamic transition layer that acts as a buffer between the support and comfort layers of the bed. It also features zoned support to help keep your back aligned while you sleep.
3. Beyond that, there’s the main comfort layer of the bed. In this case, it’s dense, sticky memory foam about 2 inches thick.
4. A breathable cashmere-blend quilted cover rounds it all off. It feels nice and luxurious, with the tufted mounds complementing the “cloud-like” comfort of the bed.
DreamCloud Mattress Performance
motion isolation
Memory foam beds generally perform best in this regard, and we think the DreamCloud mattress does a good job of isolating motion. If you or your partner are light sleepers, you’ll want a bed that doesn’t create a lot of movement. Fortunately, this bed can absorb a lot of movement between the mattresses on either side. It may not inhibit movement as much as a high-density memory foam mattress. Tempur-Pedickbut may be effective for couples who are light sleepers.
Edge-to-edge support
The DreamCloud mattress has excellent edge support. This is primarily due to the reinforced coils that run along the edges of the mattress. They can definitely help support you better when you’re on the edge of the bed. We often observe that harder beds have stronger edges than softer beds because they are more rigid and provide more support than pressure relief. Sometimes softer beds curve more on the sides than you’d expect, which made us nervous.
temperature
DreamCloud’s cashmere blend quilted cover is designed to be breathable and soft to the touch. However, compared to beds designed for sleeping Take the initiative to calm downwhich we classify as a temperature-neutral sleep option. Although DreamCloud, like many other brands, claims that its beds are comfortable to sleep on, a lot of that is just marketing noise. None of the DreamCloud beds offer active cooling, but they shouldn’t sleep too hot either.
Durability
Since this is a premium hybrid bed with reinforced edges, I’d say it’s very durable and should last most couples a few years. Hybrid mattresses generally last longer than all-foam beds in the long run because the support foam degrades faster than coils, especially underneath heavier people. DreamCloud’s hybrid design should be durable enough to last all body types seven to 10 years—and that’s just the minimum.
Who is the DreamCloud mattress best for?
While the bed is designed to be durable enough to fit all body types, its firmness and feel may not be suitable for everyone. Here’s who we think this bed is best suited for.
Sleeping position
Keep in mind that this is a firmer hybrid mattress. Since it is very sturdy, it is best suited for back and stomach sleepers or those who prefer a very firm sleeping surface. (The same goes for the memory foam version of the bed.) If you’re a mixed sleeper looking for a medium-firm bed, I’d direct you to the DreamCloud Premier bed. If you’re a strict side sleeper and want a ton of pressure relief, I’d consider the DreamCloud Premier Rest over the flagship DreamCloud – trust me, you’ll thank me in the long run.
body shape
As mentioned earlier, the structure of this bed makes it supportive enough to accommodate all body types, including heavier people. If you are petite or of average height, the support of the DreamCloud mattress may be a bit too much for you. In this case, you can save money by going with the memory foam version.
DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress Pricing
size | Measured value | price |
---|---|---|
pair | 38×75 inches | $1,130 |
King size single bed | 38×80 inches | $1,213 |
Full | 54×74 inches | $1,463 |
Queen | 60×80 inches | $1,613 |
king | 76×80 inches | $1,963 |
Calkin | 72×84 inches | $1,963 |
Split King | 78×80 inches | $2,426 |
This is the brand’s most affordable mattress yet. It’s very reasonably priced for a more luxurious hybrid bed. Plus, with discounts on the larger version, you can expect to pay only around $665. In our opinion, any queen-size hybrid bed priced under $1,000 is a great value.
Trial, shipping and warranty
DreamCloud backs this bed with the most generous policy in the online mattress space. Its bed ships to you in a box for free, and once it arrives, you’ll get a 365-night trial to try it risk-free. If you don’t like it within the stipulated time, you can return it for free. If you decide to keep it, you’ll get a permanent warranty. Just make sure to use the right foundation for your bed. Otherwise, your warranty may be voided.
How does DreamCloud compare to other mattresses?
DreamCloud vs. Saatva Classic
If you’re looking for a more luxurious bed online, these are two of the best options worth considering. DreamCloud is the more affordable option between the two, but with Available classicsyou’re spending money for a more tangible sense of luxury. It exudes elegance with its double-coil construction, organic cotton cover with gold embroidery and the look of a luxurious five-star hotel bed. Additionally, it offers three hardness options, while DreamCloud only offers one configuration. The Saatva Classic also has a more traditional feel. But if you’re looking for a bed with a more memory foam feel, the DreamCloud instead of the Saatva Classic may be worth your consideration.
DreamCloud and Nectar Classic Mix
Now, let’s compare two of the most affordable memory foam beds available online. Both have coils for support, both are relatively sturdy, and are priced similarly for the large size. That said, there are still some significant differences between the two. DreamCloud’s memory foam doesn’t feel as good as Nectar Classic Hybridwith responsive memory foam qualities. The Nectar bed also has a flatter sleeping surface, while the DreamCloud has a tufted quilted cover. Long story short, if you want more memory foam, go with the Nectar, and if you’re looking for luxury, go with the DreamCloud.
final verdict
There’s no denying that the DreamCloud mattress is a great bed that’s worth the money. If you want a good hybrid bed that has a slight sinking quality and is much sturdier, I would consider it. If you end up not liking it, you can always rely on the great return policy that comes with it.
You might like this mattress if:
- You want a supportive hybrid mattress
- You want a responsive memory foam mattress
- You prefer a firmer mattress style
- You want a bed with preferential policy support
You may not like this mattress if:
- You are looking for an all foam mattress
- Do you prefer the feel of a neutral or latex foam mattress
- You want a mattress with more pressure relief
This is a pretty solid bed. It has a softer tone than the appropriate firmness on our scale, so it’s best for strict back or stomach sleepers. You might also like it if you’re a mixed sleeper who likes a firmer bed style. However, if you like sleeping on your side, I highly recommend checking out the DreamCloud Premier Rest. It costs more, but it’s probably worth it for most side sleepers who want pressure relief in their next bed.
DreamCloud and Nectar are owned by the same parent company, Resident Home. Some of the other brands under the Resident Home umbrella include Awara and clover.
As a premium hybrid bed, the DreamCloud should last you at least the next seven to ten years, if not more. Hybrid beds are generally considered to last longer than all-foam beds because the steel coils support them longer. For this reason alone, this bed should last you many years, no matter your body shape.
