Pickford made a superb penalty save for England on the international stage, his seventh penalty save since joining Everton in 2017.
City were really lucky at the moment as they managed to recover the ball and Haaland scored with a header, but it was disallowed for offside, much to the delight of the away fans.
Haaland had previously scored 15 of his 16 penalty kicks in the league, one of which hit the woodwork, and this was the first time he had seen a penalty saved.
Dyche said of Pickford’s save: “It’s a good thing that the analysts are giving him as much benefit as possible from as many penalties as possible. “Thanks to him for making that impulsive decision. The right decision.”
Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Pickford is very good at putting pressure on the forwards. Haaland must have felt the pressure there, there was silence in the place.”
“It was a good save, but a very bad penalty. He didn’t turn things around as quickly as a left-footed player would. A bad penalty, but a good save.”
Former England defender Matt Upson added on Amazon Prime: “Pickford’s save was brilliant. He loves it. He doesn’t make the penalty taker’s life any easier.”
