The United States has authorized the sale of more than $5.5 billion in weapons to Egypt and Morocco, aiming to enhance their defense capabilities and solidify strategic partnerships. Under the agreement, Egypt will receive $630 million worth of Lockheed Martin Hellfire missiles, spare parts and training, and $30 million worth of Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS). In addition, Egypt will purchase $4.69 billion worth of equipment to support its fleet of M1A1 Abrams tanks co-produced with the United States. Meanwhile, Morocco received approval to purchase 500 GBU-39B small diameter bombs worth $86 million and AIM-120C-8 air-to-air missiles worth $88.4 million for its F-16V fighter jets. The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency said these arms sales are consistent with U.S. foreign policy and will enhance regional stability and security for both countries.
