Australian Open 2025: Simona Halep withdraws from qualifying because of injury
Simona Halep has withdrawn from Australian Open qualifying due to knee and shoulder pain and will delay the start of the 2025 season.
Former world number one, 33 years old, wildcard received Tournament organizers told her last week, but she said she felt uncomfortable after attending a World Tennis League exhibition match in Abu Dhabi.

Now, the former French Open and Wimbledon champion is trying to regain her footing on the tour, but injuries are not helping her cause.
“After detailed discussions with my team, we have agreed that it would be wise to postpone the start of the season,” the Romanian wrote on Instagram.
She will also miss next week’s Auckland Classic, one of the major warm-up tournaments for the Australian Open.
