Australia vs India: Virat Kohli fined for barging Sam Konstas in Melbourne Test

India’s Virat Kohli fined 20% of match fee after running into Australia opener Sam Konstas Day one of the fourth Test in Melbourne.

Kohli had a shoulder clash with Konstass at the end of the tenth over and the 19-year-old former India captain appeared to change direction to make contact as the 19-year-old walked off the field to talk to batting partner Uth Man Khawaja talks.

The two exchanged words before the referee and Khawaja calmed the situation.

Match umpire Andy Pycroft said the 36-year-old Kohli breached the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) guidelines on “inappropriate physical contact”.

In addition to the fine, Kohli was deducted one point but is free to play in the fifth and final Test in Sydney next month.

The ICC said Kohli had accepted the punishment and therefore no formal disciplinary hearing was required.
