Aryna Sabalenka: World number one ‘fresh and ready to go’ for new tennis season
World number one Aryna Sabalenka says she feels “refreshed and ready” for the new tennis season and hopes to build on her stellar year.
The Belarusian defended her Australian Open title in January and then won the U.S. Open in September for her third Grand Slam singles title.
She also replaced Iga Swiatek at the top of the world rankings to become the year-end number one.
The 26-year-old will kick off her season at the Brisbane International on December 29.
“There are a lot of things that need to be improved,” Sabalenka said.
“My singles net skills may not be very good. My touch skills still have a lot to improve.
“Even my serve isn’t as good as I’d like, so there’s always (elements) to improve on.”
