Bukayo Saka injury: Arsenal winger out for ‘many weeks’ with hamstring injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says winger Bukayo Saka will be out for “several weeks” with a hamstring injury.

The England striker was forced off in Saturday’s game 5-1 win over Crystal Palace Leaving Selhurst Park on crutches.

The 23-year-old Saka has scored 9 goals and provided 13 assists in 24 games this season.

“It doesn’t look good,” Arteta said. “He will be out for several weeks.

“It’s a big blow, but it’s going to be a big exercise for us in overcoming another challenge.”

Asked if Saka had something “torn” in his hamstring, Arteta replied: “Yes. Maybe there are ways to prevent the injury.”

“There are a lot of factors. We’re looking at everything and what we could have done differently.”

Arteta added that Saka was “very sad” and “very emotional” after discovering the severity of his injury.

The Spanish coach also confirmed that Raheem Sterling will be out for some time after suffering a knee injury.

The Gunners’ next league game will be against Ipswich Town at the Emirates Stadium on December 27 (kick-off 20:15 GMT).
