Boxing: Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois – how is heavyweight division shaping up?
Usyk’s next fight will largely depend on what happens between Dubois and Parker.
The undisputed two-weight champion has teased a move back to flyweight, but that seems to be more of a personal desire than what makes the most financial sense.
Dubois will consider himself a top contender and is eager to challenge Usyk again after losing to the Ukrainian in 2023. Damaged by calling low.
If Dubois defeats Parker, a fight with Usyk could happen in the summer of 2025.
Dubois could demand a rematch if Parker wins, and even considering Joshua beat Parker in 2018, he could emerge as a potential contender.
So what happens to Usyk, 37, in retirement?
talking about 5 Steve Bangs Live Boxing Podcast, Anthony Crolla says Usyk has achieved “immortality” in boxing.
Crolla said: “He should have put his gloves in the middle of the ring[after beating Fury]and walked away on a huge high.”
“I think when (Usyk’s) manager spoke, he seemed convinced that (Usyk) wasn’t going to retire.
“I think we’ll see him fight next year. If he does and Usyk fights Dubois again, he’s expected to win when he’s already stopped Dubois, but I I think the battle will be much tougher this time.”
