Fury vs Usyk 2: Moses Itauma stops Demsey McKean in one round, Johnny Fisher gets controversial win
Essex’s Fisher remains unbeaten but will see his share price fall significantly after the controversial result.
The 25-year-old found success in the opening round by landing shots to the body, before Allen showed confidence and landed powerful, hard-hit shots.
The match quickly turned into a slugfest, with neither man truly establishing his dominance before Fisher was knocked out for the first time as a pro.
Fisher went into survival mode and was injured multiple times as the fight wore on, but to his credit, he continued to stand and trade.
There was little skill in the performance from either fighter, although Doncaster’s Allen landed the more damaging punches.
Allen, 32, had promised a big surprise. After ten grueling rounds, before the referee announced the score, he was so convinced of his victory that he fell to the canvas in tears.
One judge scored Allen 96-93, and two other judges scored it 95-94.
Fisher, who has a huge following along with his Chinese takeout-loving internet-famous father John “Big” Fisher, was booed by the audience as he left the stage.
“I think it’s easy to score points. But, this is boxing, this is a business,” boxing coach Sean McGuigan said on Sky Sports.
“When you lean toward the guy selling the ticket, sometimes those decisions (make you) lean toward that fighter.”
