Fury vs Usyk 2: Lennox Lewis, Tony Bellew, Frank Warren react
Fury, who weighed in at a career-high 20st 1lb, will be looking to avenge the only defeat in his illustrious professional record and continue to dominate the opening exchanges.
As the round wore on, Usyk’s boxing genius began to battle with Fury, striking out on his own and driving the tempo of the fight.
Former WBO lightweight champion Johnny Nelson told Sky Sports that his fight was “a little closer” than the judges.
“Usyk initiated almost everything in the fight and Tyson had to react,” he said.
“Yeah, it was close, I don’t think the scorecards were that way. But I know Usyk did a good job. Frank (Warren) said he thought Tyson won.
“That’s what being a promoter means. He didn’t think Tyson could win in a million years.
“The best guy that night won and got the job done.”
Fury and Usyk’s promoters had very different ideas on how the Queensberry-based fight should be scored in support of the Brit.
“Why did Tyson only last four rounds in this fight? It’s impossible,” Warren said.
“He was just as disappointed as I was. Everybody up front (in the ring) thought it was the same.”
And Usyk’s Alex Krassyuk thinks Fury was right to only get four rounds.
“I fought Fury for three or four rounds,” he said.
“The judges gave him a four. That’s the fairest score.”
