Freeski World Cup: Zoe Atkin wins halfpipe silver at Copper Mountain in Colorado
Britain’s Zoe Atkin secured her first podium finish of the season by winning silver in the halfpipe at the Freeski World Cup in Colorado.
The 21-year-old scored 89.75 points in the final event, less than a point behind China’s Gu Aileen, who won the first round with a score of 90.50.
Cassie Sharpe passed Atkin after scoring 89.00 in the second round. But Atkin overtook the Canadian with an impressive third sprint at Copper Mountain.
“I’m very excited to have a solid result there and get back on the podium after a tough race in China,” Atkin said.
Elsewhere on Saturday, fellow Brit Jaz Taylor finished third on day two of the Telemark Sprint World Cup double-header in Pinzolo, Italy.
Kaja Bjoernstad Konow of Norway won the championship, and Argeline Tan Bouquet of France won the runner-up.
Taylor, who Win gold medal in sprint After Friday’s first race, there are now four podiums in four races on the Italian slopes.
The 31-year-old has reached the World Cup podium 13 times since the start of last season.
