Bournemouth fans chant about Europe after humbling Manchester United
With Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham in poor form, can Bournemouth qualify for the European competition for the first time in history?
Their fans thought so – they sang the European promotion song when they won at Old Trafford.
“I think they have to really enjoy it because normally you don’t come to these stadiums that often,” Iraura added.
“I came here as a player and it’s difficult to get a result like this, so obviously we have to enjoy it and they have to enjoy it.
“But we know how much it costs to win a Premier League game, even just one against anyone.
“Winning a Premier League game is very, very difficult so we have to keep going in the same way or the result will definitely be worse.”
In December 2023, Bournemouth boss Bill Foley said he was confident the club could qualify for Europe within five years.
He recently told BBC Sport: “We have big ambitions but we are patient.
“Our goals this year are modest. Can we finish in the top eight or top nine, maybe even in Europe?
“Our real aim is to play in Europe and give our players the chance to experience Europe and do that with Bournemouth Junior.”
If the Cherries continue to impress like they did at Old Trafford, their fans may need to dust off their passports.
