Ulster 19-22 Munster: Richie Murphy ‘bitterly disappointed’ but ‘proud’ of his 14 men
Murphy questioned Whitehouse’s decision not to give a yellow card midway through the second half when Scott Wilson broke through from 40 meters and the visitors violated their own goal line.
“He ran 40 metres, we got to the line and they gave the penalty.
“I don’t know why it wasn’t a yellow card and then the game would change.”
In a further blow to Murphy, center Stuart McCloskey and winger Zach Ward were forced off in the first half and impressive wing McNabney was injured in Farrell’s game-winning drive.
This resulted in a reshuffle of the defence, which Murphy described as “a bit of chaos” as Ulster dealt with injuries and O’Toole’s red card.
Ulster have already lost a number of senior defenders to injury, including Jacob Stockdale, Nathan Doak, Stuart Moore and Ben Moxham.
“We have two academy defenders on the bench. Stuart McCloskey, where will he be next week? I’m not sure if he’s going to play because he came off with a hamstring injury,” Murphy added.
“Zach Ward sprained his ankle. We don’t really have any more senior linebackers. We’ll see what the return looks like next week, but there’s no lads lined up to get back on the field, let’s put it that way.
“We might get into the academy again and maybe even into the clubs.”
