Eritrea: President Isaias Holds Talks with Special Chinese Delegation
This morning, President Isaias Afwerki met with China’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Xue Bing, in Adihalo.
Discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional issues of vital importance to Eritrea and its neighbours, and interrelated international developments. The two sides also discussed the implementation framework of the development plan formulated at the China-Africa Summit.
Ambassador Xue reiterated that China is committed to promoting peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and contributing to Eritrea’s development plans in accordance with the priorities set by the Eritrean government.
Ambassador Xue emphasized in a statement to the Eritrean press that China and Eritrea have completely consistent views and positions on the regional and international issues discussed at the meeting. He further reiterated that China is willing to cooperate with Horn of Africa countries in the fields of development and security.
Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Chinese Ambassador to Eritrea Li Xiang attended the meeting.
It is worth noting that Ambassador Xue Bing also paid a similar visit to Eritrea in April this year.
