Tom Pidcock’s attention to detail ‘next level’, says Q36.5 boss

Tom Pidcock’s attention to detail is “next level” according to his new team boss Doug Ryder.

The 25-year-old British rider left Ineos Grenadier after three years with the British team and signed with Swiss team Q36.5 earlier this month.

“This is a game changer for us,” Ryder said, “giving him the full leadership, trust and confidence to work hard to support his goals and ambitions.”

Pidcock thrilled fans on the road by winning stage 12 of the 2022 Tour de France to the Alpe d’Huez with a descent of almost 100km/h.

“His attention to detail is next level,” Ryder added. “He focuses on every millimeter; bike positioning and set-up, nutrition, race planning and coaching.

“He met with all the leadership on our team…the head coach, the head nutritionist, the head physician, the performance director and presented challenges and questions.”

Pidcock also won the Strade Bianche and Amstel Gold One-Day Classics in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

Ryder was impressed with Pidcock’s work ethic when he first trained with him at a makeshift training camp sponsored by the double Spanish mountain bike champion.

“He really wants the whole team to work with him, which is something I’ve never seen in some big leaders in the past,” Ryder said.

“He is a great leader and motivator, which has made a big impression on our riders.”

Pidcock’s team competes in the second-tier ProTour series, below the World Tour of Road Cycling. But the team hopes to secure wildcard entry into a number of one-day races in the 2025 World Tour season.

The team has existed in many different forms over the years under Ryder’s stewardship, including Team Dimension Data, which Mark Cavendish joined. A lot of their investment comes from Mining magnate and cycling fan Ivan Glasenberg,, external and several well-known brands.

Along with Pidcock, they are also hoping to qualify for some or all of the sport’s three three-week grand tours, including the Tour de France.

The 2025 Road World Championships will also be a focus for Pidcock as he looks to add to his cyclocross and mountain bike glory by winning the rainbow band on the road.
