Netflix wins US rights to broadcast Women’s World Cups in 2027 and 2031

Netflix has acquired the rights to broadcast the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cup in the United States.

The deal, announced on Friday by football’s governing body FIFA, marks the first time Netflix has acquired full rights to live sports matches.

“As a well-known brand and a new long-term partner of FIFA, Netflix shows a very strong commitment to the development of women’s football,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The 2027 World Cup will be held in Brazil. Hosts for the 2031 World Cup have yet to be decided, but England, other English football associations and the United States have all been suggested as potential bidders.
