Everton suffered years of chaos & crisis under Farhad Moshiri
Everton were seen as a model of stability during David Moyes’ 11-year reign from 2002-13.

This is Walsh’s first director of football role. This was Moshiri’s first mistake.
This sports marriage of expediency never seemed like a comfortable option. Despite the united front, there were whispers of “Koeman signings” and “Walsh signings” behind the scenes. Never a good sign.
Everton’s transfer strategy certainly hints at chaos.
Koeman took Everton to Europe in his first season. But for a club that had survived on limited financial success under Moyes, the problems really began when Moshiri began to exert his financial influence in the summer of 2017.

Allardyce guided Everton to eighth place but was sacked at the end of the season following a six-month overhaul of management.
Moshiri next fulfilled his wish for appointment Marco SilvaHe had been targeted before Allardyce without success and has now been sacked by Watford, with the club blaming Everton’s initial clumsy approach for his and the team’s decline.
PSV’s highly regarded director of football Marcel Brands also arrived at Goodison Park to replace Walsh.
Having made a positive impression early on, Moshiri rewarded him with a seat on the Everton board and “given him a wider remit to be responsible for the club’s entire football strategy, not just player recruitment”.
Once again, Moshiri’s plan failed to materialize.
The brand eventually suffered and was marginalized, not helped by his own poor record in the market, which saw him acquire the likes of Moise Kean and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, They spent a total of more than £50 million but failed to achieve results.
In selecting managers, strategy was driven by Moshiri’s whims, not the brand.
For a time, the new partnership saw Silva’s Everton finish eighth in his only full season, playing attractive football along the way. This is another false dawn.
Silva was sacked after a 5-2 loss to Liverpool in December 2019, a decision that went against the advice of Brands, an admirer of Silva who was keen to give him more time.
