CORRECTION: 2025 Basketball Africa League Combine to be Held January 10-12 in Rabat, Morocco
Basketball Africa League (BAL) (https://BAL.NBA.com) will host the combine in Rabat for the second consecutive year from Friday, January 10 to Sunday, January 12. The three-day scouting event will be held at the Ibn Yassine Omnisports Hall and will feature more than 30 aspiring players from Africa, Europe, the United States and around the world to undergo anthropometric and athletic testing, positional skills development and play in the team 5-on-5 games in front of executives, coaches and scouts. Coaches who participated in the NBA 2K25 Summer League Africa Coaching Program in Las Vegas last July will be part of the coaching staff.
As part of the joint campaign, the league will host the BAL4HER Women’s Training Camp on January 10 to empower and develop talented young female athletes. The one-day training camp will bring together 20 U-23 players from the surrounding communities of Rabat to participate in on-field development sessions. BAL4HER is the alliance’s platform that promotes gender equality in the African sports ecosystem and celebrates women in the sports industry who serve as role models for young women on the continent. The league will also hold coaching training sessions for 100 local coaches.
BAL’s landmark fifth season will kick off on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Prince Moulay Abdullah Sports Center in Rabat, Morocco, and on Saturday, June 14 in Pretoria, South Africa The 2025 BAL Finals culminates at SunBet Stadium, marking the first BAL tournament to be held in Morocco and the first BAL Finals to be held in South Africa. The 2025 BAL season will feature 12 top club teams from 12 African countries playing 48 games in Rabat; Dakar, Senegal; Kigali, Rwanda; and Pretoria.
The 12 teams will again be divided into three divisions, with four teams in each division. Each league will play 12 group matches, during which each team will play twice against the other three teams in that league. The Kalahari Conference group stage will be held in Rabat from April 5 to Sunday, April 13. The Sahara Conference group stage will take place from Saturday, April 26 to Sunday, May 4, at the Arena in Dakar, Senegal. The Nile Conference group stage will be held from Saturday, May 17 to Sunday, May 25 at the BK Arena in Kigali. Eight teams from the three leagues will qualify for the playoffs in Pretoria, which will kick off on Friday 6 June and culminate with the 2025 Championship on Saturday 14 June. culminating in the BAL Finals.
