Central Committee of National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) Conducts its 11th Regular Meeting

The Central Committee of the National Women’s Union of Eritrea held its 11th regular meeting from December 16 to 17, focusing on discussing the current situation and future plans of the Union.

The meeting reviewed efforts to date, including achievements, challenges and strategies to strengthen the alliance’s organizational capabilities. Discussions included raising members’ political awareness, improving women’s economic status, increasing participation in development programs and expanding the impact of the Alliance’s media initiatives. There is also an emphasis on promoting women’s participation in political leadership and education. The meeting also held extensive discussions on the 2025 action plan.

Union President Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael recognized the commendable contributions of the Central Committee members and highlighted key areas of focus for 2025. These include strengthening organizational capacity, providing administrative and vocational training programs for members, and increasing women’s political awareness.

The meeting also discussed reports from heads of various departments and branches of the union. Several recommendations were adopted at the meeting, including redoubling efforts to implement the 2025 plan, passing on the experience of older members to the younger generation, reviewing membership mandates, addressing workplace shortcomings and conducting public awareness campaigns on women’s issues.
