Move Afrika Touring Circuit Expands From East To West Africa As Rwanda And Nigeria Named Hosts Of 2025 Concerts

Next year’s tour will expand from East to West Africa Nigeria Join Rwanda as a host country. The tour will start from Moving Africa: Kigali exist BK Arena exist February 21, before continuing Moving to Africa: Lagos exist palm tree exist February 25, 2025. Mobile Africa is a long-term, large-scale effort to pioneer African music touring, driving economic investment, creating jobs and supporting entrepreneurial opportunities in each host country.
Move Afrika is an initiative by Global Citizen that aims to tackle the world’s inequalities by creating jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities for the continent’s emerging generation through an annual series of live music events. Showcasing the best of Africa to the world, these events will drive transformative investment within local communities, engage local artists, suppliers, institutions and staff, and provide opportunities for on-the-job skills development and training. Move Afrika will provide fans and artists with a world-class experience that will set a new gold standard for entertainment touring events, increase demand for international and regional artists to tour the region, and build local capacity in host cities across the continent. Each year, more countries are added to the Move Afrika tour, which will expand further across the continent over the next five years.
The 2025 edition of Move Afrika will drive a citizen-led advocacy campaign for sustainable development and economic growth, with a focus on strengthening health systems across Africa. Global Citizen, together with event partners, will urge African countries to increase domestic health financing, prioritize primary care and sexual and reproductive health and rights, increase global investment in health resilience, and reduce the financial burden on countries to strengthen public health.

The first “Mobile Africa” event, Moving Africa: RwandaTaking place in Kigali in December 2023, it will feature Grammy Award-winning, Pulitzer Prize-winning artist Kendrick Lamar and prioritize job creation, skills training and youth entrepreneurship along the way. The event employs more than 1,000 Rwandans, with 75% of staff and production staff local. The show, hailed by many as Rwanda’s most successful live music event ever, also featured performances by Zuchu, Bruce Melodie, DJ TOXXYK, Sherrie Silver, Ariel Wayz, Kivumbi King and Bruce The 1st.
2025 edition Mobile Africa will build on Global Citizen’s previous campaigns and activities across Africa, including Moving Africa: Rwandato be held at BK Arena in 2023; Global Citizen Day: Mandela 100Coldplay’s Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder and Chris Martin in Johannesburg, South Africa, 2018 show; Global Citizen Live: LagosDavido, Femi Kuti and Tiwa Savage perform at Fela Kuti’s New Afrika Shrine in 2021; and Global Citizen Festival: Accrabringing Usher, SZA, Stormzy and TEMS to Black Star Square in 2022.
