Ulster v Munster: ‘I’m so focused that Christmas is a second priority’ – Michael Lowry

“There will be a bit of turkey and we’ll have a few days off, but I’m so focused on the game that Christmas is almost a second priority for me.”

The holidays may be approaching, but it’s not the top of Michael Lowry’s mind.

The most pressing issue is turning around Ulster’s woes as Irish rivals Munster come to Belfast.

Saturday’s defeat to Bordeaux in Europe marked a fourth straight defeat in all competitions, with Ulster holding 26 points from Belfast without a reply.

Previously, Ulster lost a huge lead to Cardiff City before the autumn internationals, losing to Leinster and defending Champions League champions Toulouse.

Despite the poor form, Lowry said the young squad’s morale remains high and they are focusing on the positives during this difficult period.

“The biggest thing is we’re seeing improvements in what we’re trying to do,” said Lowry, who can play fullback or on the wing.

“Results are what we work for, but as long as we’re going in the right direction, that’s a good thing.

“Hopefully we can continue down this path and start getting some wins.”
