Merck Foundation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and African First Ladies Announced Winners of 2023 Film Awards to Support Girls’ Education and Stop Gender-Based Violence

Merck Foundation (www.Merck-Foundation.com), Charities of the German Merck Group and africa first ladyannounced the list of winners Merck Foundation 2023 Film Awards “More Than a Mother”.
Senator Rasha Kelej, Ph.D., CEO, Merck Foundation, Chair of Beyond Mothers Emphasized: “I am extremely pleased to announce our winners today Merck Foundation Film Award “More Than a Mother” Award In partnership with my dear sisters, africa first lady. A huge congratulations to our winners. I am grateful for the efforts of young talents across Africa in films through which they beautifully convey important messages about supporting girls’ education and ending gender-based violence. “
The theme is “More Than a Mother” Film Award Aim to raise awareness of any of the following social issues such as: Break the stigma of infertility, support girls’ education, end child marriage, end female genital mutilation, stop gender-based violence and/or empower women at all levels. The theme is Diabetes and Hypertension Film Award is for Promote healthy lifestyles and raise awareness about prevention and early detection of diabetes and hypertension in African countries.
“I strongly believe that all art forms, including filmmaking, can play an important role in driving cultural transformation in society and the world. We aim to use this medium to encourage promising filmmakers and new talents from the African continent to become part of its community Advocate for social and health issues,” added Senator Kelley.

Award theme: Address one or more of the following social issues: breaking the stigma of infertility, supporting girls’ education, ending child marriage, ending female genital mutilation, stopping gender-based violence and/or empowering women.
Who can apply: All African filmmakers, students at filmmaking training institutions or young African talents are invited to create and share short or long films, whether drama, documentary or documentary, that convey a strong and impactful message on the subject.
