Billy Root: Batter commits to Glamorgan for 2025

Batsman Billy Root has signed a new contract to stay at Glamorgan County through the 2025 season.

The 32-year-old has become a mainstay since joining the club in 2019, helping the team win the 2021 and 2024 Metrobank One-Day Cup titles.

Root scored 3,326 first-class runs, as well as 1,217 runs in A-category cricket and 357 runs in T20 cricket.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here over the past six seasons and I feel we’re really close to seeing something special happen at the club. I’m looking forward to being a part of it,” said England brother Root, a batsman Joe.

Glamorgan Director of Cricket Mark Wallace said: “Billy has been an outstanding player during his time at Glamorgan and it’s great that he will be contributing to the club next season.

“Billy has shown his adaptability and selflessness over the past few seasons, playing a number of different roles in the squad and we look forward to seeing him on the pitch with us in 2025.”
