Main achievements: The 25-year-old defended his pole vault title at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first back-to-back men’s pole vault champion since the 1950s.
In the process, he broke both the Olympic and world records – the ninth time in his career and the second time this year.
Later in August, he broke the world record again, setting a new best of 6.26m at the Diamond League in Silesia, and won his second world indoor title and third European gold medal in 2024.
