Mykhailo Mudryk: Chelsea winger fails drugs test

Chelsea winger Mihailo Mudric failed a drugs test, the Premier League club confirmed.

The Blues said they were contacted by the Football Association after “adverse results were revealed in a routine urine test”.

Ukraine international Mudrik denies knowingly using any banned substance and Chelsea say they will work to find out what caused the test result.

“This is completely shocking as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules and I am working closely with my team to investigate how this happened,” Mudrick wrote on Instagram.

“I know I didn’t do anything wrong and still hope I can get back on the court as soon as possible.”

It’s unclear what banned substance was found in Mudrick’s test.

BBC Sport has contacted the FA for further comment.

The 23-year-old last played for Chelsea on November 28 and has missed the past five games.

On December 1, he was selected into the Blues’ squad for their win over Aston Villa, but did not play.

Head coach Enzo Maresca has publicly stated that Mudrick is absent due to illness.

Mudrik was signed from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk Deal value up to £89m In 2023, he played 73 times for Chelsea and scored 10 goals.
