Curtis Cup 2026: Catriona Matthew remains GB&I captain

Catriona Matthew will once again captain the Great Britain and Ireland team for the 2026 Curtis Cup against the United States at Bel Air Country Club in Los Angeles.

Matthew led the team to a thrilling game 10.5-9.5 defeated Team USA Held in Sunnyside in September – GB&I captured the Curtis Cup for the first time since 2016.

The two-time Solheim Cup winning captain will be looking for back-to-back victories in the 44th edition of the tournament, which will take place from June 12-14, 2026.

The Scotland player, who won the Curtis Cup in 1992 and helped defend the title in 1994, succeeds Elaine Ratcliffe in the role ahead of this year’s tournament.

“Winning in 2024 is on par with everything I’ve ever achieved, including winning the Solheim Cup as a player and captain,” said Matthew, who won one major – the 2009 Women’s British Open .

“It’s always harder to win on the road and I’m excited about this opportunity. My job is to once again build a good, aggressive team with the goal of defending their title.”
