Tadhg Furlong: Ireland and Leinster prop signs contract extension
Tadhg Furlong has signed a two-year contract extension with Ireland and Leinster until the end of the 2026-27 season.
The 32-year-old made his Ireland debut against Wales in 2015 and has played 78 Test matches and won the Six Nations three times.
Furlong played for the British and Irish Lions Test team in 2017 and 2021 and won four Pro12/Pro14 titles and the European Cup with Leinster.
The contract extension means that Furlong will renew his contract with the Irish RFU until this summer, when Ireland will begin preparations for the next 2027 World Cup, when he will be 35 years old.
“Having the opportunity to continue my career in Ireland and my hometown is a dream come true,” Furlong said.
“I am delighted to continue our long-standing relationship with Leinster Rugby and the IRFU in the seasons ahead.
“Since the beginning of my career my goal has been to make a positive contribution in a winning environment and I believe brighter times are coming for club and country.”
Furlong made his Leinster senior debut in November 2013 and has made 149 appearances for the province.
IRFU Director of Performance David Humphreys said: “Tadhg is a world-class conservative whose influence extends beyond his ability on the pitch.”
“Since breaking into the Leinster and Ireland squads he has set new standards for props and his desire to improve and consistently perform at a high level sets him apart.”
