Armed man with Glock switch in his underwear arrested outside Pentagon

A man with a loaded gun in his car and a device in his underwear that made the gun function like a machine gun tried to speed outside the Pentagon last week while Pentagon police officers clung to his car and was arrested. Documents reviewed by CBS News.

Prosecutors say Kaleel Nagbe was armed with a firearm loaded with 16 rounds, including one, when he was pulled over at the Pentagon complex for holding a phone while driving for a traffic violation. in the room. Prosecutors said the Pentagon police officer who stopped him smelled marijuana and ordered him out of the car. Nagbe then jumped back into the car and tried to speed away, according to prosecutors. Justice Department court documents say “multiple officers secured the vehicle” and prevented the suspect from escaping.

Court documents do not allege that Nagbe planned to use a gun at the Pentagon, but prosecutors said Nagbe got into a physical altercation with an officer during the arrest, resulting in one officer being injured. When he was stopped, Nagbe also had a Glock switch in his underwear that would have made his semi-automatic firearm functionally full-automatic.

In a separate court filing, the Justice Department said Nagbe had a criminal record, including previous gun possession charges, and that he had 14 pounds of suspected marijuana hidden in his suitcase.

The injured officer was treated at a nearby hospital for hand injuries.

Initially, a magistrate ordered Nagbe to be released on a personal recognizance bond, but the federal government urged the magistrate to continue detaining Nagbe, where he is currently detained pending trial.
