Patty Tavatanakit & Jake Knapp win mixed PGA/LPGA Tour event
Patty Tavatanakit and Jake Knapp shot final-round 65s to win the Grant Thornton Invitational in Naples, Florida.
The pair combined for an eagle and five birdies to finish at 27-under at 7-under on Sunday in a combined PGA and LPGA Tour event.
The third round adopts a new team competition format. In “Modified Four Ball,” two players tee off, then switch balls for a second shot and play that ball until it’s holed. The lower score counts as the team score.
“I’m putting well this week and I think everything is fun,” Thailand’s Tavatanakit said of her pairing with American Knapp.
“I feel like we have really good chemistry and we just talk about random things. It works really well.”
Thailand’s Ataya Titikul and South Korea’s Tom Kim shot 64 in the third round and made two birdies in the last two holes to finish second at 26 under par.
American pair Jennifer Kupcho and Akshay Bhatia made an eagle on the 17th hole to move to 26 under, but they bogeyed the 18th hole and ended up one shot away. Trailing results end.
New Zealand’s Lydia Ko and Australia’s Jason Day won the inaugural tournament in 2023, shooting 67s in the third round to finish at 20 under.
