Larne: Haveron appointed Larne boss as Rooney takes up new role
The 35-year-old Englishman Rooney has only officially played two games for the club, one was a 1-1 Irish Premier League draw with Cliftonville at Inver Park and the other was a 5-0 Bate McLean Cup win. The win over Anna United.
Rooney’s assistant Hafron was in charge of Larn’s defeats to Olimpia and Dinamo Minsk in the divisional league.
Hafron was Carrick’s manager for three years but only stayed at the Glens for 17 months before joining former boss Lynch’s coaching staff in April 2023.
His first game as permanent head coach will be Larne’s final league game at home to Gent on Thursday evening.
Rahne also confirmed that former midfielder Andy Mitchell has resigned as academy technical director “to take up a senior coaching staff role elsewhere”.
“He’s worked tirelessly to put some structure in place below first-team level that will allow us to continue to grow,” Cornyon said of Mitchell.
“Our academy and scholarship programs are an important part of our program and will continue to be so moving forward.
“Our former manager Tiernan Lynch takes on the role of manager and director of football operations and Nathan will take on the role of director of football.”
Larne next play their next match on Thursday evening when they host Belgian side Gent in their final divisional league game.
