Scotland to face Belarus, Greece and Portugal or Denmark in World Cup qualifying

Belarus’ most recent home games were played at neutral venues due to the ongoing conflict in neighboring Ukraine.

“First, we have to determine where the game will be played,” Clark said.

“The most important thing is to focus on the team, the players, the way they play and make sure that wherever we play, for me, put all the politics aside and just focus on, let’s get what we get out of that game the required score.”

Clark’s side reached the play-offs at the last World Cup in Qatar but were knocked out by Ukraine.

Scotland will face Greece in the Nations League play-offs in March with the aim of staying in the First Division, with Clark commenting: “Greece, we’ll know more about it next year.”

The last time the men’s team faced Greece was in an official match in the Euro 96 qualifiers, with the home team winning 1-0 both times.

Portugal defeated visiting team Scotland 2-1 in the recent UEFA Nations League group stage, while their second game at Hampden ended in 0-0. In the last World Cup qualifiers, Denmark defeated Scotland at home but lost 2-0 with the same score at Hampden.

In the 2005 World Cup qualifiers, Belarus met Scotland four times and won the last game. In their previous encounters, Scotland won two and drew the other.
