PFL Europe: Lewis McGrillen knocks out Alexander Luster to win bantamweight title

However, fellow Brit Connor Hughes was disappointed as he was knocked out in the fourth round of his lightweight title fight against Poland’s Jakub Kaszuba.

Liverpool’s Hughes started well, knocking out his 29-year-old opponent with a left hook in the first round and an uppercut in the second.

But last year’s champion Kasuba took control in the third, landing a takedown early in the round and dominating the action on the ground with multiple elbow strikes.

It was the same story again in the fourth round when he again took the fight to the ground and relentlessly attacked with elbows until the referee stepped in to end the fight.

Kasuba joked in his post-match interview about “giving me more elbows” before revealing he had torn ligaments in his leg and “despite the adrenaline, it was painful”.

Although the defending champion extended his unbeaten record to 15 games, the 27-year-old Hughes suffered his second defeat in 12 career games.
