Abbie Wood: British swimmer wins second World Championships bronze
Britain’s Abbie Wood won bronze in the women’s 400m individual medley at the Budapest short course swimming championships.

American Katie Grimes finished second in 4 minutes, 20.14 seconds, while Wood returned home with a personal best of 4 minutes, 24.34 seconds.
“I’ve been waiting for this best result for four years,” said the 25-year-old Wood.
“I think I got it in the pool in 2020, it’s the same mentality, no pressure, just competing. I think I need to go into the rest of the season that way.
“I’ve learned a lot in the last three months of training and I definitely think we’ll take that into account as we go into the long term because we can’t lose sight of the results I’ve achieved and I hope it will give me a boost of confidence in the car moving forward. “
