Today’s blue category is Connection:Sports Edition Reminds me of one of the most helpless, exaggerated laughs I’ve ever experienced. A few years ago my husband and his best friend were playing some of the original old football video games where you could choose your team’s name and the game would assign you a mascot. Although I don’t know which game it is, I can only say that it is no Madden or any similarly well-designed game.
Regardless, one of the players ended up choosing this giant bee as their mascot. Head, antennae, mandibles, thorax, the whole body. A tiny insect was blown up to human size and then jumped around the sidelines like Mary Lou Retton, which had us all laughing until we felt both sides of us cracked. When one of us snaps out of it, we look at the screen again, see the swinging bee, and completely lose our minds again. So I had to smile when I discovered the mascot category in today’s Connections: Sports Edition, even though I don’t actually know who these specific mascots are.
Currently, Connections: Sports Edition is in beta, which means The New York Times is testing it to see if it’s popular before adding it to the site’s gaming app. You can play it for free every day for the next few weeks – and then we’ll see if it holds up.
