The Witcher 4, Starring Ciri, Announced at The Game Awards
Fans of The Witcher series are lucky enough to The Game Awards 2024 LOS ANGELES – The six-minute trailer for The Witcher 4 features an adult Ciri, the adopted daughter of Geralt of Rivia.
Geralt is nowhere to be found in the trailer, but that doesn’t mean he’s not in the game. But CD Projekt Red noted in a statement that Ciri will take center stage in the game as the protagonist. While the trailer doesn’t feature any gameplay, it focuses on the specifics of The Witcher games: using steel and silver swords and some magic (as well as new chain weapons) to slay terrifying monsters.
While Studio CD Projekt Red describes the trailer as a short story, suggesting that it may not be representative of the game’s plot, its themes likely reflect the game: a young country girl is preparing to perform a ritual sacrifice to a local monster, hoping that Li intervened and killed. But when she returned to the villagers, she found that the girl died in the voice of calling God – the white-haired demon hunter said angrily: “There are no gods here, only monsters.” Chills!
While no gameplay is shown, the studio noted that the trailer was created using assets and models from the game itself. CD Project Red also teases that it’s built using Unreal Engine 5 on an “unreleased NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU.”
CD Projekt Red has not announced any release date, nor revealed when the game will be released, nor what platforms it will be released on.
