The 7th Africa Youth In Tourism Innovation Challenge (AYTIC) 2025 Is Open For Entries
African tourism partners and strategic partners including UN Tourism, AfCFTA, BDO South Africa in partnership with TEAMS Africa are pleased to announce the successful launch of 7th African Youth Tourism Innovation Challenge (AYTIC) 2025. The challenge is an important part of the Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Summit, which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from June 10 to 13, 2025.
The Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Challenge (AYTIC) is aimed at young people under the age of 35, but postgraduate students can also participate in the challenge. AYTIC offers young African innovators, entrepreneurs and graduate students a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the future of Africa’s tourism industry through innovation. AYTIC is a uniquely designed pan-African platform that invites young people to submit their innovative ideas, technology solutions and social entrepreneurship projects, all of which have the potential to attract investors and venture capitalists.
Innovations in the travel and tourism industry have the ability to fundamentally change the way businesses and businesses operate and enhance the customer and visitor experience when traveling. As such, AYTIC is committed to empowering African youth by providing business partnerships, market access, networks, mentorship platforms and financing solutions from global markets including UN Tourism, the private sector, fintech and social entrepreneurs and the ATP network ability.
Therefore, young people who are running innovative solution-driven projects related to tourism are invited to submit their projects for review. Shortlisted innovators will be introduced to industry leaders, potential partners for professional development, attend free UN Tourism short courses, join a network of African youth tourism mentors and innovators and gain global exposure.
The winner of the challenge will receive a prize worth $1,000, with first and second place winners also receiving $500. On top of that, past and 2025 AYTIC finalists will be integrated into the African Tourism Innovation Hub (ATIH), launched in partnership with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the University of Technology of Namibia. The first tranche will begin in the first quarter of 2025.
Joram Mwinamo, co-organizer and CEO of SNDBX Kenya, described the Africa Youth Travel Innovation Challenge as a transformative opportunity for the continent’s young innovators to shape the future of tourism in Africa. “The platform has the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, investors and policymakers to enable the next generation of African changemakers to drive innovation, create jobs and promote cultural and environmental sustainability. The top 5 finalists will be asked to give a 5-minute presentation to judges at the Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, and the winner, runner-up and third runner-up will be selected. The Innovation Challenge finalists will be announced at the annual Africa Tourism Leadership Forum (ATLF), where the awards will be awarded at a venue yet to be announced.
