Nancy Pelosi in hospital after injury on overseas trip
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is hospitalized with injuries sustained during an official visit to Luxembourg, her office said Friday.
Pelosi, 84, “is currently receiving quality care from doctors and medical professionals,” spokesman Ian Cragg said in a statement.
The Democrat, who still represents California in the U.S. House of Representatives, is traveling to Luxembourg with a bipartisan congressional delegation to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
Clague said Pelosi “looks forward to returning to the United States as soon as possible” and continuing to work at the hospital.
The San Francisco congresswoman resigned in 2023 as speaker, the second most influential presidential position after vice president, after two separate four-year terms.
But she continued to serve in the House. She was re-elected to a two-year term last month.
