Robert de Pauw: Manager leaves Aston Villa after less than six months in charge
Robert De Bow has left Aston Villa after just six months in charge.
Villa finish ninth in Women’s Super League Lost 4-0 to Arsenal on Sundayonly one point above the relegation zone.
The 43-year-old Dutchman was appointed in June after Carla Ward stepped down at the end of last season.
Villa said in a statement on Wednesday: “We would like to thank Robert for his commitment during his time in charge and wish him all the best for the future.”
The club confirmed assistant head coach Sean Gott will be in charge on an interim basis until a new head coach is appointed.
Villa have won just one game in the WSL under DePauw this season – a 3-2 victory over bottom-of-the-table Crystal Palace last month.
They finished a club-high fifth place in 2022-23 under Ward and finished seventh in the WSL last season.
However, they have taken just six points from their first nine games of the season.
Villa will face Charlton Athletic in the Women’s League Cup later on Wednesday, with only a win to give them a chance of reaching the knockout stages.
