Champions League: Celtic ‘gaining confidence’ despite missed chance
“The positive was we were strong defensively and didn’t concede a goal. We had a lot of energy and a great commitment but I thought we lacked quality in the final third.
“In the Champions League, if you keep a clean sheet and get a point away from home but you’re not very happy, it shows the improvement of the team.”
Celtic currently have nine points and face Young Boys at home in January before traveling to Aston Villa.
Another win should be enough to get them into the knockout stages, while anything less than this could still see them advance to the next stage in February.
“The group and the squad are gaining confidence at this level,” said Rodgers, who confirmed that the hip problem limiting the game of right back Alistair Johnston did not appear to be too serious.
“We need to do more, but we know that. It’s cool. We know it’s an opportunity for us, but you have to show a little more.”
