Jody Gormley: Former Tyrone player’s club Trillick ‘devastated’ by his death
Jody Gormley’s club Trillick St Macartan’s said they were “shocked” following the death of the former Tyrone player.
The 53-year-old died on Monday night, three months after being diagnosed with terminal liver cancer.
The Trillick man returns to his hometown club, guiding them to last year’s Tyrone Senior Football Championship.
His Trillik side also reached this season’s county final and he informed his players of his cancer diagnosis immediately after narrowly losing the decider to Eligar Ciaran.
A statement on Trillick’s Facebook page said: “Jody is one of a kind and when he returned to Trillick he brought a one-of-a-kind Aurora with him.”
“Words cannot describe the heartache our club is feeling right now. Jordy has been a real sensation since he was a kid, going through youth and senior football before leading our senior side to a historic double in 2023.”
