World Hero Golf Challenge: Scottie Scheffler ties record for most wins in season
Scottie Scheffler ended a dominant year with a stunning 9-under 63 to defend the Hero World Challenge by six strokes.
The world No. 1, who won the Masters and Olympic gold in 2024, capped a bogey-free round at 25 under to capture his ninth title of the year, a tie. record.
This victory means he has won an incredible 42.9% of the 21 races he has entered in 2024.
“(It was) very satisfying,” he said after tying Tiger Woods (2000) and Vijay Singh (2004) for the most wins in a season since 1950, despite the Neither the event nor the Olympics are a PGA Tour event.
“I did a lot of good things on the course and played some really solid golf.
“It felt good to take a break and then come back and play some pretty solid golf.”

The 28-year-old Scheffler birdied three of his first four holes and four of his last six to cruise to victory.
South Korea’s Tom Kim shot 68 and was in second place, one shot behind leader Justin Thomas in third.
Thomas has not won since winning the 2022 PGA Championship with a 1-under 71.
The 31-year-old had birdies on the first and fourth holes before bogeying the par-3 second and fifth holes.
That led to Scheffler’s eight-foot birdie on the first hole, a birdie on the par-5 third, and a stunning birdie putt from inside 50 feet on the fourth hole for his A lead that won’t be relinquished.
“It’s been a great year and a fun year,” Scheffler added.
“I’ve had a little time to reflect, but I’m not quite sure how to evaluate it. It’s been really surreal, it’s been fun, and I’m really grateful.”
