Selena Gomez earns Golden Globe nominations for “Emilia Pérez” and “Only Murders in the Building”
Awards season kicked off with a bang from Selena Gomez, who debuted on Monday Nominated for a Golden Globe Award in recognition of her performances on both the big and small screen.
Gomez has been nominated twice for the Golden Globes, this year in the categories of Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Supporting Actress in a Movie. Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut announced the nominees during a Monday morning telecast from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
Gomez, who is nominated for best actress for her role in the Hulu mystery drama “Murder in the Building,” has won praise for her performance in previous seasons and will reprise her role on the show for the fourth time in August. Gomez’s last two Golden Globe nominations were in the same category for “Only Murder.” her partner, Steve Martin and Martin ShortThe show has received equal recognition in the Best Actor category every year since it became eligible for the awards show.
Gomez is nominated for best supporting actress for “Emilia Perez,” a Spanish-language musical thriller from French director Jacques Audiard about a Mexican drug cartel boss who undergoes gender-affirming surgery story. Gomez co-starred in the film Zoe Saldanaher performance also earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.
Gomez praised Saldanha’s reaction to the nomination in a social media post.
“I don’t even know what to write… I’m so proud of @zoesaldana and I’m so grateful and honored @goldenglobes,” she wrote in the caption of the video on her Instagram Story, which captured Gomez The moment I heard her name was in the Best Supporting Actress in a Movie category.
“Emilia Perez” leads Monday’s Golden Globe nominations with 10 nominations, spanning multiple acting categories in addition to directing, writing and music. (Carla Sofia Gascon, who plays the eponymous character, is also nominated.) “Only Murder” is also a top contender, with four nominations, tying for second place among television contenders. It is tied with “General” and second only to “Bear”.
In another Instagram post, Gomez praised Gascón, as well as French composers Clement Ducol and Camille, who wrote “Emilia Pérez” and won the Nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song and Score.

It’s not often that an actor is nominated in two categories at one awards show for his work on multiple projects, but it has happened at the Golden Globes. Over the past decade, Amy Adams, Regina King and Alicia Vikander are just some of the celebrities who have competed at the Golden Globes twice in one year. Among the 2025 nominees, Gomez and Sebastian Stan are the only actors recognized in multiple acting categories for playing multiple characters.
Stan, of “Pam and Tommy” fame, is nominated for best actor in a motion picture musical or comedy and in a drama. He was recognized for his portrayal of a young Donald Trump in the dark comedy “The Apprentice” and the controversial biopic “The Apprentice.”
