Rohit Sharma: India’s players not scarred by Australia thrashing
India captain Rohit Sharma said his players will not be left mentally scarred by the way India were defeated by Australia in the second Test.
Australia 10 wins After three days of dominating play, the five-match series was leveled 1-1 at Adelaide Oval.
No Indian player hit a half-century in either innings, and their bowling attack failed to capitalize when conditions were in their favor – especially the pink ball under the floodlights on day one.
The third Test will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane on December 14 and Rohit admitted that India had to “figure out some things” but was confident that his team would not be devastated by the defeat.
“First of all, it’s not a (mental) injury, it’s just that we lost a Test match. We didn’t play well enough,” he said.
“The score is still 1-1, there’s a lot to do in this series and this is definitely a way for us to get back into the game. I’m not going to focus too much on this game and start worrying about little things.”
Rohit agreed that India were “not good enough with the bat” but believed their top order could turn the tide in Brisbane.
“When you come to Australia, I feel your best chance of winning a Test match is to score runs on the board,” he said.
“Whatever the challenge is, no matter how tough the conditions are, we want to beat it, stay there and grind out our strengths. I can see that everyone is in their plans and putting a lot of effort into what they want to do ”
