The 7th Africa Youth In Tourism Innovation Challenge 2025 Launched

Africa Tourism Partners (ATP) will launch the seventh and 2025 Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Challenge (AYTIC) in partnership with UN Tourism, BDO, AfCFTA and hosting partner Teams Africa. Virtual launch event will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

The 7th Africa Tourism Innovation Summit and Challenge will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from June 10 to 13, 2025. South Africa (2019), Rwanda (2020), Ghana (2021) and Namibia, through the Ministry, are hosting the Environment, Forestry and Tourism Summit and Innovation Challenge for three (3) years from 2022 to 2024.

Kwakye Donkor, CEO of Africa Travel Partners said: “We believe our partnership with TEAMS Africa, along with the support of the Kenya Tourism Board and other private sector partners, will be a game changer for the Summit“.

Held annually by ATP in partnership with UNWTO and BDO, this year’s summit will promote intra-African trade in tourism services among African youth and showcase youth in the tourism business across the continent. The centerpiece will be a tabletop exhibition showcasing youth empowerment programs and SMEs in tourism, travel technology, fintech and social entrepreneurship. In addition to this, intergenerational tourism service trade opportunities will be provided to tour operators, tourist accommodation facilities, transportation service providers, educational institutions, travel and tourism technology start-ups and incubators, employment agencies, professional development, etc. .

The Africa Youth Tourism Innovation Challenge (YTIC) is aimed at young people under the age of 35, but postgraduate students are also welcome to participate. This initiative provides an excellent opportunity for young innovators, entrepreneurs and graduate students from across the continent to contribute to the future of tourism in Africa. AYTIC is a unique pan-African tourism innovation challenge that invites young people to showcase their innovative ideas, technology solutions and social entrepreneurship projects, all of which have the potential to attract the interest of investors and venture capitalists.

The winners will have the opportunity to enter the African Tourism Innovation Center (https://atih.africa/contact-us/) at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), where they will receive mentoring and meet potential funders. ATIH is a purpose-designed physical space that brings together researchers, creators and innovators to nurture ideas, nurture start-ups and explore business opportunities.

In view of the above, young Africans under the age of 35 and postgraduate students are encouraged to participate in the Challenge. The platform will be launched on the 10thth Entries will be accepted starting in December 2024.
