F1 Academy: Abbi Pulling crowned champion for second time in a week
British driver Abbi Pulling took all three pole positions in Abu Dhabi on Friday to regain the 2024 F1 Academy title which was revoked this week.
The 21-year-old Alpine rider celebrated his championship victory in Qatar last week. But after the second race at Lusail International Circuit was canceled due to barrier repairs, organizers decided to add a third race to the Yas Marina schedule.
That means she leads Mercedes’ Doriane Pin by 83 points at round seven in Abu Dhabi with 84 points, but not mathematically enough to seal the title.
In the all-female series, drivers are awarded 25 points for winning, 2 points for pole position and 1 point for fastest lap.
Lapin took all three pole positions in Friday’s season finale, meaning she was crowned champion for the second time in a week.
