Dame Sarah Storey ‘gutted’ to be out of Dancing on Ice
Lady Sarah Storey has said she is “devastated” to have to pull out of the upcoming series of Dancing on Ice after falling and breaking her ankle in training.
Britain’s most successful Paralympic athlete posted on social media on Friday that an “awkward trip and fall” while her left foot was “stuck on the ice” means she won’t be able to do it from January. Take part in the ITV series.
Ms Sarah thanked those involved in the show and medical staff for ensuring she “had recovered and was back home and recovering”.
She had been training daily with pro skating partner Sylvain Longchambon, but now she had to watch games from home with a cast on her leg and crutches.

The swimmer-turned-cyclist won 18th She won her 19th career Paralympic gold medal in Paris in September before heading to the rink to rehearse for her performance.
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: “I’m really sad to have my ice dance training cut short in this way – like my first session with @slongchambon which was really great!
“An awkward trip and fall got my left foot stuck on the ice, which unfortunately resulted in a fractured left ankle.”
She added: “I’m lucky to have coaches Sylvain and @stephenpickavance by my side who know exactly what to do and the medical support for this show is truly world class.
“The medical director @sharonmorrisonuk went above and beyond to get me the best surgeon so I’ve recovered and gone home to rehab!”
“Another comeback”
The 47-year-old, who won 30 medals at nine different Paralympic Games, confirmed she was “working with the team at ITV on next steps”. She said she’s also focused on “getting all my power back before next season and of course getting back on my bike!”
She wrote: “My career has been through a lot of ups and downs, including injuries and illness, plus returning after having two kids means I’m ready to come back again.”
Some people online have begun speculating that she might return to the show in 2026.
Dame Sarah was made a Dame in the 2013 New Year Honors for her contribution to para cycling, is the last contestant in the show’s lineup – alongside other celebrities including Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, TV presenter Michaela Strachan and soap stars Charlie Brooks and Sam Aston.
Others including former footballer Anton Ferdinand, Hollyoaks actress Chelsea Healy and reality TV stars Molly Pearce and Fearne McCann will also take to the rink.
