The World United in Istanbul: Calls for Global Solutions at the TRT World Forum

Influential leaders, intellectuals and experts from around the world gathered in Istanbul for the 2024 TRT World Forum (www.TRTWorldForum.com). The forum was held from November 29th to 30th. This year is the eighth time. The theme is “A World at Breakpoint: Responding to Crisis and Transformation”. As a platform to discuss and solve pressing global issues, it has received widespread attention from around the world. Nearly 150 speakers from more than 30 countries and more than 1,500 participants from different regions participated in the two-day dialogue in Istanbul, promoting international solidarity and understanding.

TRT World Forum: a platform for global solutions and transformation

Policymakers, journalists, academics and representatives from the public and private sectors from around the world come together to discuss key issues affecting humanity, from geopolitical crises to the social impact of artificial intelligence. A total of eight thematic meetings and eight roundtable discussions were held throughout the forum.

As one of the most high-profile forums for the global media industry, the TRT World Forum transforms Istanbul into a center of international dialogue and solutions. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altu and TRT Director General Mohammad Zahid Sobach delivered opening remarks at this important meeting. During the ceremony, a special piece of art inspired by Al-Aqsa Mosque was presented to President Erdogan.

Istanbul debates future of world

The first day of the forum began with a session titled “2024 Elections in the United States and EU Member States.” In addition, important meetings were held on topics such as “Turkey’s way forward,” “Exposing media distortions,” and “Addressing serious human rights violations in the conflict.” The forum attracted widespread media attention around the world and became the focus of calls for an international solution.

The forum invites prominent figures from politics, academia and the media, as well as renowned speakers from the national and international arena. Notable participants include former President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipovic, Lebanese Minister of Information Ziad Makari, former President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, Turkish Foreign Minister Dr. Hakan Fidan, Former British High Commissioner to South Africa and member of the European Commission. Lord Paul Boateng, House of Lords, Tighisti Amare, Deputy Director of the Africa Program at Chatham House, Mehari Taddele Maru, Migration Policy Center and Academic Coordinator for Young Africa Leaders Programme.
